Project Two

Make a refined, well-designed, and conceptually appropriate visualization for your Marilyn Monroe and synesthesia page layout.

Learn about synesthesia. Know the who, what, where, how, why, and when of it all. Also learn about Marilyn Monroe since the visual you create for this project must be used in your Project One layout. Apply your design thinking from Exercise 2, creating a more refined and finished visual to include as a feature/spot illustration for your Project One magazine layout.

Reading:
Procedure(s):
  • know the content by learning as much as possible about the message and concept, and topics in your article
  • research outside of your article, reading about synesthesia
  • make visuals, using denotation and connotation, among other methods
  • consider how style can impact message, because the way something is made can impact how it is perceived, for better and for worse (so use style wisely and appropriately)
Elements that will be important for your single illustration:
  • look and feel, making it look like it fits into your magazine, but also fresh and new
  • not staying too close to what is already in use
  • using an image of Marilyn, or another image, that is relevant to your article's text
  • making sure the image is readable and communicates the concept
  • fitting the single illustration into your Project 1 layout
Specs:
  1. Size will vary depending on magazine and student’s concept
  2. Color is open
